In this guide, we’ll cover what to look for in an Airbnb wedding venue, how to make sure your booking goes smoothly, and our favorite Airbnb wedding-friendly properties in the North Georgia Mountains.

Why choose A VRBO OR Airbnb Wedding Venue in Georgia?

Benefits over a traditional venue

Having a small wedding or elopement at an AirBnB allows you to have a more intimate and casual wedding day. Most of our couples choose to get ready at their AirBnB before having the ceremony somewhere scenic nearby (we help find the perfect spot!) and then go back to the AirBnB for the reception, but you can have the actual ceremony at the AirBnB as well if there’s a suitable spot for it.

Many Airbnb or VRBO properties include on-site accommodations, making it easy to stay, celebrate, and spend quality time together in one place.

From lakeside cabins to mountain lodges, these properties often have one-of-a-kind backdrops you won’t find at typical venues — perfect for intimate, picturesque weddings.

Unlike traditional venues with strict timelines and vendor rules, vacation rentals offer full weekend access and the freedom to create a laid-back, personalized experience.

Vacation rentals can often save money by combining your lodging and venue into one cost — plus, you won’t pay extra for things like chairs or space rental at every turn.

About AirBnB Weddings

Can you get married at an AirBnB wedding venue?

vacation rental wedding venue rules

Technically… it depends. Airbnb’s official policy says “no events,” but in reality, many property owners do allow weddings — especially smaller ones like elopements or micro weddings. Be sure to message the host directly and ask for permission. Always be upfront about your plans so there are no issues later!

Is VRBO Or AirBnB Better For Weddings?

VRBO VS Airbnb for weddings

VRBO is better than AirBnB for finding rentals that allow weddings, because you can filter for properties that explicitly say “Events Allowed”. This makes it much easier to find suitable venues, and avoids the chance of having the owner cancel on you last minute (which can happen with AirBnBs).

How to find a vrbo or airbnb wedding venue

Benefits over a traditional venue

Planning a wedding at an Airbnb is different than booking a traditional venue. Here are a few things to consider before you fall in love with a listing:

To find a wedding venue on AirBnB you should contact the AirBnB host to ensure they allow events on their property, and ask if there are any additional fees to do so. You’ll also want to ask how many guests they allow and if there are other restrictions you should know about such as noise ordinances and parking restraints.

VRBO & AirBnB Wedding Cost

updated for 2025

The cost of a VRBO or AirBnB wedding is much more affordable than a traditional wedding venue. While traditional venues can cost upwards of $20,000, an AirBnB wedding can cost just $5,000 or less.

VRBO or Airbnb wedding can vary widely depending on the size of the property, location, and whether you’re planning a simple elopement or hosting guests for a full weekend wedding.

This was actually the first wedding the house has had on the property and it made for a perfect wedding venue with lots of locations for their wedding photos! It features a large outdoor space, a patio that has views of the mountains which was perfect for their ceremony, a huge house with lots of living spaces and stylish décor, and the best part- it’s completely private and hidden away.

Another great part about and AirBnB wedding is that you’re able to turn your wedding into a vacation as well. For example, they rented the Airbnb for the wedding, but also the days before and after so they could have a “little escape from the world” up in the mountains. Their family and friends were also able to stay there making it a really great alternative to a traditional wedding venue.

The Newly Weds

Maggie and Landen got engaged at their favorite bagel shop that they go to every Sunday. They were sitting at their usual table, talking about the future when the question got popped! They decided to find the silver lining of the pandemic and plan a small, safe wedding with just immediate family and their closest friends. After 9 years of being together, it was time to officially tie the knot!

The Details

The couple planned their micro wedding together, making each decision together without outside influences swaying them from what they truly wanted. Their décor was inspired by the early colors of fall- rustic, simplistic and romantic. Their colors were wine burgundy, navy/sapphire and emerald green because of the deep colors with jewel tones and an accent of gold.

Their Advice

“The biggest challenge was not making the wedding about anything else but us. Also, Covid-19. But, mostly just putting all the parts together. My advice, it’s going to be stressful. Don’t let anyone fool you, no matter how big or small. But, enjoy the decisions, enjoy the unenjoyable, and when the day comes focus only on each other and the celebration of your union and love. Everything else will fall into place.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — as long as the host gives permission. Be upfront about your plans and confirm in writing that events are allowed. Some properties even have wedding-specific policies or fees.

It depends on the property. Elopements and micro weddings (2–30 guests) are the most common, but some larger properties can host up to 50+. Always check the listing’s max occupancy and event rules.

It can be! Especially if you’re combining lodging and event space. You’ll need to budget separately for things like rentals, catering, and coordination — but you’re not paying a premium just for the venue name.

Always have a backup plan. Some rentals have covered porches or indoor spaces. If you’re hiring a planner, they can help with tents or last-minute pivots. Look for properties with flexible space or multiple options.
